About Jane Rosten

With HIP for over two decades, Jane has years of combined experience in the fields of health education, behavioral science, psychotherapy, and research. A graduate of both the University of Michigan and the University of Washington, Jane is a California licensed psychotherapist in private practice, and a health educator/behavioral counselor for HIP.  Her specialty as a counselor is in helping people make health behavior changes which will last, sometimes requiring an exploration of psycho-social barriers to solutions.

For HIP (including BeWell, LeadWell and WoW), she designs classes, teaches, and counsels on a wide variety of topics, including stress management and nutrition, but especially on topics connected with environmental behavior change. For example, she teaches classes and coaches on electric vehicle adoption, biking, climate change solutions, and active transportation. Jane is aware that climate change may be our most pressing public health challenge. She uses behavioral science to help people convert good environmental intentions to action, especially around transportation, currently the largest source of greenhouse gas emissions. For her fitness and stress management, Jane hikes, bikes, weight trains, dances, sings, meditates, and likes to help people laugh.:)
